Smith Joins Local Groups to Honor VeteransTowson, Md. (November 6, 2009) — At an event being held on Sunday, November 8, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith will commemorate the County's 350th anniversary year in conjunction with Veterans Day - Baltimore County's Veterans: Commemorating 350 Years of Service. ObservanceBeing held at American Legion Post #22, 125 York Road in Towson, the observance will begin at 1:30 p.m., and be hosted by American Legion Post #22; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Towson Lodge 469; and the Historical Society of Baltimore County. Smith has marked the County's anniversary each month during this commemorative year with a focus on significant highlights in the County's history. On Sunday, Smith and other distinguished visitors will celebrate and honor those who have served and provided Baltimore County citizens 350 years of freedom. Welcome ParticipantsActing as master of ceremonies, Commander Fred Ptaschek, American Legion Post #22, will welcome the following additional participants to the ceremony: Maryland Adjutant General Brigadier General James A. Adkins; Maryland Secretary of Veterans Affairs Edward J. Chow Jr.; 229th Army Band; Maryland National Guard Honor Guard; Towson Elks Lodge 469 Chaplain James Bullington; Avery Bowen, Piper for the John F. Nicoll Pipe Band.
