Commission for Women Wins National Award
Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign
Towson, Maryland (November 5, 2013) – The Baltimore County Commission for Women won national accolades for their efforts to educate the public and raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking in Maryland.
'Power of the Purse'
The Commission's "Power of the Purse" project received an achievement award from the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW). Details of the awareness campaign will also be featured in the NACW Project Resource Book, which is distributed nationally.
The campaign featured a fundraising event encouraging women to donate gently used purses to benefit the non-profit Samaritan Women's Restoration Home, which provides services to individuals harmed by domestic human trafficking.
