County Reaches Agreement With Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25
Sheriffs become latest group to extend labor agreement through June 30, 2016
Towson, Maryland (October 10, 2013) – County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced today that on October 4 Baltimore County reached agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25, the sheriffs, on a labor agreement through Fiscal Year 2016, ending June 30, 2016. The new contract passed by a margin of 56 to 3. There are 75 total bargaining unit members represented by Lodge 25.
The County has now secured agreements through FY 16 with seven of its labor groups. Over the past few weeks, the County reached similar agreements with the fire fighters and paramedics, AFSCME, the Baltimore County Federation of Public Health Nurses, the Chief Officers of the Fire Department, General Government SMCs and the Police Executive Corps.
"I am so incredibly proud of our employees," said Kamenetz. "At a time in our nation when there is so much discord, it is very gratifying to have County employees who are willing to work together for the good of the entire County. We really do have outstanding employees serving the people of Baltimore County."
The agreement provides:
- Three percent bonus for all Pay Schedule II Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25 employees on the payroll as of October 1, 2014 in November 2014
- Three percent Cost of Living Allowance for all employees represented by Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25 on July 1, 2015
- All employees represented by Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25 shall not be furloughed or laid off in fiscal year 2014, 2015 and 2016.
"The message remains the same: if you want to build and renovate schools, enhance public safety, and rebuild an aging infrastructure, you must manage the budget wisely. Baltimore County employees really are the gold standard in the nation in their understanding of that important fact and County taxpayers appreciate such a reasoned approach to very challenging issues," concluded Kamenetz.
