Baltimore, Md. (October 8, 2009)—The Baltimore City Department of Transportation announced that the Nicodemus Road bridge will be replaced. The Nicodemus Road bridge, which crosses the Liberty Reservoir Watershed between Baltimore and Carroll Counties, is scheduled to be replaced starting on October 12, 2009. The $8.2 million project includes the demolition of the existing bridge, a new five-span continuous concrete structure, new sidewalks, safety fencing, ornamental railings and reconstructed roadway approaches. Throughout the duration of this project, the Nicodemus Road bridge will be closed with detours in effect. The bridge is scheduled to be closed to through traffic on October 12, 2009 at 9 a.m. Variable message signs have been placed in the area to alert motorists of the closure. Construction of the new bridge is expected to be complete in the fall of 2011. Westbound Nicodemus Road traffic will be detoured north on Ivy Mill Road, west on Westminster Pike, south on Gamber Road to Deer Park Road. Eastbound Deer Park Road traffic will be detoured north on Gamber Road, east on Westminster Pike, south on Ivy Mill Road to Nicodemus Road. |
