Towson, Md. (October 5, 2009)—Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith will present Industrial Realty Group with the 2009 Baltimore County New Directions Award, an honor given to a company that exemplifies the quality and future direction of Baltimore County business. The award will be made at the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 19 at Towson University. Industrial Realty Group (IRG) is being recognized for their redevelopment of Colgate Business Park, an 89-acre heavy industrial complex located in eastern Baltimore County. Once the site of a vacant stainless steel plant with environmental contamination, the park is now almost 100 percent leased with approximately 690,000 square feet of improved space. IRG purchased the warehouse/distribution facility in 2005, upgrading rail lines, demolishing obsolete buildings, and making over $15 million in renovations. “Colgate Business Park is an example of how older industrial areas can be returned to productive use and demonstrates the importance of redevelopment and adaptive reuse to ensure the future of Baltimore County and its business community,” said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. The November 19 awards program will also induct two business leaders into the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame; Susan J. Ganz, CEO for Lion Brothers Company and Steve Geppi, Founder and President of Diamond Comic Distribution. Tickets to the dinner are available by calling 410-825-6200. |
