Towson, Md. (August 26, 2009) — The next session of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors", an all-hazards program designed to teach people the skills required to get through the first, critical 72 hours following an emergency, begins Tuesday, October 6 in North Point-Edgemere. The program, sponsored by the Baltimore County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, continues for five consecutive Tuesdays. All classes run from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be held at the North Point-Edgemere Volunteer Fire Co., 7500 North Point Rd., 21219. Topics covered include: Emergency preparedness and natural and technological hazards; fire safety and extinguishers; crime prevention and awareness; first aid and CPR. Also, emergency managers and will discuss and promote other volunteer opportunities with NHN participants. "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" graduates finish the program qualified to help themselves and their neighbors though the emergencies most likely to occur in our area.
