Sanitary Sewer Overflow
Towson, Maryland (August 25, 2013) – A sanitary sewer overflow occurred from a broken pipe located near the Herbert Run stream and Hollins Ferry Road. The overflow is believed to have been caused by a fallen tree which was reported to the Department of Public Works on August 24. Crews were immediately dispatched to the site and the repair was made.
The break, which went undetected for several days, is estimated to have discharged approximately 100,000 gallons per day into Herbert Run.
Citizens are encouraged to assist the County by reporting suspected overflows to the Department of Public Works.
The Baltimore County Department of Health will monitor water quality in the stream, publish the results and issue water contact advisories.
