Fire Crews Respond to Rosedale House Fire

Update: Police have identified the victim of this fatal fire as Robert Keith Ziegler, 49, of 1318 Seling Avenue, 21237. The fire remains under investigation.

Rosedale, Maryland (July 8, 2013) – On July 7 at approximately 7:16 a.m., Baltimore County Fire units were dispatched to a dwelling fire with a possible rescue at 1318 Seling Avenue, 21237.

Units arrived at 7:20 a.m. for a working fire. It was reported that there was possibly one person still in the dwelling.

A 12-year-old juvenile was awakened by smoke detectors in the residence. The juvenile discovered a fire in the rear of the house, exited the home without injury and called 911.

One Fatality, No Others Injured

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and located a deceased 49-year-old man in the area of the fire. The deceased man and juvenile were friends. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The cause of death and the cause of the fire are being investigated by the Baltimore County Police fire investigation division.

The fire was placed under control at 7:39 a.m. Approximately 19 pieces of equipment and 60 firefighters were on the scene to control the incident.
