Towson, Md. (July 7, 2008) — Baltimore County will close the Western Run Road Bridge (ADC Map 11 H9, east of Falls Road) on Monday, July 14 for three months, in order to replace the 16-foot span. While the bridge is closed, traffic will be detoured to Belfast and Tanyard roads.
The bridge, built in 1920, will be replaced with a concrete culvert similar to the old structure – though widened slightly from 20 to 24 feet. The concrete will also be given an earth-tone color in keeping with the rural character of the bridge’s setting. The new structure, scheduled to be reopened on October 14, will cost about $387,000.
