Sanitary Sewer Overflow

Cockeysville, Md. (June 16, 2008)—A sanitary sewer overflow of 900,000 gallons occurred Friday, June 13, at the Texas Pumping Station on York Road in Baltimore County near Recycle Way. The overflow occurred at 1:30 p.m. when a rupture occurred on a bypass pump pipe required for rebuilding of the station.  Workers were able to isolate the broken pipe and stop the overflow by 9 p.m.

The discharge from the station entered Parks Run that flows into Beaver Dam Run. The County’s Department of Environmental Protection and Resource Management is monitoring the site and will be posting water contact alert signs as necessary. The public is advised to avoid contact with the waters of Parks Run that flows to Beaver Dam Run and into Western Run.
