Adopt an UnFURgettable Friend

Half Price in Celebration of Memorial Day

Towson, Maryland (May 2, 2014) – This Memorial Day, Baltimore County wants to encourage animal adoption and responsible pet ownership by offering a 50-percent discount on the adoption fee from Wednesday, May 21 to Sunday, May 25, and by giving those who do adopt during this time, a half-off coupon for a future spay or neuter procedure for another pet.

Patriotic Pets Initiative

“Patriotic Pets is an exciting initiative whereby we hope to increase pet adoptions,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "Not only do we have some great pets available for adoption, we are also offering spaying or neutering services at a reasonable cost if your other pets have not been fixed. If you adopt a pet during this promotion, you can use the half-off coupon for an existing pet or pay it forward to a Baltimore County friend to use towards a spay or neuter procedure for their cat or dog.”

Between May 21 and 25, County residents can adopt a cat for just $25 or a dog for $32.50. In addition to the adoption, this fee ensures each adopted animal has:

  • been spayed or neutered
  • had a complete veterinary exam
  • a certificate of health
  • its first set of vaccinations
  • been micro-chipped with a lifetime registration
  • has a Baltimore County license (an annual license is required for dogs and cats)
