County Awarded $100,000 State Grant for Battlefield District Sidewalks

Towson, Maryland (March 12, 2014) – Baltimore County has been awarded a $100,000 grant from Maryland's Community Legacy program to install sidewalks in the War of 1812 Battlefield District in Dundalk. The grant, from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, will fund sidewalks on North Point and Vulcan Roads adjacent to North Point State Battlefield. The nine-acre park is along the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail in Dundalk's Battlefield District. The district includes North Point State Battlefield and Battle Acre Park, sites where the Battle of North Point was fought in 1814.

"As we near the 200th anniversary of the historic Battle of North Point this September, the state and County are committing significant resources to improving these publicly owned battlefield sites," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "By adding sidewalks, we make it safer and easier to walk between the two historic sites."
