Neighbors Helping Neighbors Prepare for an Emergency

Cockeysville, Md. (February 13, 2012) - Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a comprehensive program that provides training and certification for Baltimore County citizens to help themselves, their families and their communities in the event of a disaster. Volunteers will learn about emergency preparedness, how to assist individuals with disabilities, hazard awareness and identification, fire safety and crime prevention. The next program will begin on March 20, 2012.

Training Sessions

The six training sessions will be held every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cockeysville Volunteer Fire Company, which is located at 11210 York Road, beginning on March 20 and ending on April 24. After completion of the program, volunteers will be certified in American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED.

The topics of each session include:

  • Emergency preparedness
  • Fire safety
  • Crime prevention
  • First aid
  • Volunteer Mobilization Centers
  • CPR
