Maryland's Wine Country Highlighted in Passport Experience Events
Begins in Baltimore and Harford Counties on the Piedmont Wine Trail
Towson, Maryland (January 15, 2014) – Maryland's wine country has grown three-fold in the last decade to boast more than 60 wineries throughout the state. The wineries and wine trails are hosting Passport Experience Events on weekends in January through March, to highlight what each of Maryland's unique regions have to offer.
The Passport Experience Kicks-Off
The Passport Experience kicks-off on January 25 to 26 in Baltimore and Harford counties on the Piedmont Wine Trail where visitors can tour wineries and visit attractions. Participating wineries in Baltimore County include Basignani Winery, Boordy Vineyards, DeJon Vineyards and Woodhall Wine Cellars.
"Marylanders are typically familiar with only a few of our wineries," said Kevin Atticks, executive director of the Maryland Wineries Association. "With now over 60 wineries in the state, it's time to explore!"
Purchase of a Passport Experience Pass
With the purchase of a $25 Passport Experience Pass, wine travelers will enjoy complimentary tastings of up to six wines at participating wineries and discounts at participating accommodations, restaurants and on wine purchases.
