Fire Department Investigates Incident at Randallstown Nursing Home
Towson, Md. (October 10, 2013) -- The Baltimore County Fire Department has begun a thorough review of an incident last month involving a patient at a Randallstown nursing home.
The incident occurred on September 15, 2013, when EMS personnel were dispatched to Genesis Healthcare at 9109 Liberty Rd.
Medic 18 (Randallstown) responded to the call for a patient conscious, not alert.
A crew of one paramedic and one EMT prepared the female patient for transport and loaded the patient into M18. Preliminary investigation indicates that the stretcher fell to the ground. The medic crew immediately attended to the patient, who displayed minor injuries as a result of the fall, and transported her to Northwest Hospital. The crew contacted the EMS supervisor immediately.
The Fire Department immediately began a review of the incident; this review remains ongoing.
M18 is a 2006 Freightliner Medic. The stretcher is manufactured by Stryker.
