Pedestrian Struck in North Point Dies of Injuries
Baltimore County, Maryland (August 6, 2013) - At 9 p.m. on August 5, police and fire units responded to Eastern Avenue and 54th Street in Precinct 12/North Point for a pedestrian struck. Shattina Santos, 31, of the unit block of Brookshire Drive, 21136, was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital for treatment. She died approximately two hours after the crash.
Crash investigators have determined that the victim was crossing Eastern Avenue against the red signal and was not in a crosswalk. A 1994 Subaru Forester was traveling eastbound on Eastern Avenue, and struck the pedestrian. The driver, a 75-year-old Essex woman, stopped and remained at the scene.
No citations have been issued at this time and the crash remains under investigation. As with all fatal crashes, the case will be sent to the State's Attorney's Office for review upon completion of the investigation.
