Four Men Arrested for Towson Town Center Murder
Baltimore County, Md. (February 2, 2012) - Baltimore County Police arrested four men and have charged them with the murder of Rodney Pridget at Towson Town Center on December 19, 2011. Three of the suspects were arrested on February 1, and the fourth was arrested on February 2.
“Our homicide detectives have been working tirelessly on this case since the night it happened,” said Police Chief Jim Johnson. “The footage from the video cameras in and around the mall was critical in helping them solve this case. These arrests demonstrate the value of the legislation passed by the County several years ago requiring these cameras in shopping centers.”
On December 19, 2011, at approximately 6:22 p.m., officers responded to Towson Town Center, 825 Dulaney Valley Road, 21286 for a subject with gunshot wounds. When officers arrived, they located Rodney Vest Pridget lying on the exterior sidewalk of Nordstrom with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Suspects Identified
During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Tyrone Chester Brown Jr., 19, of the 3900 block of Lowndes Avenue, 21218 fatally shot the victim as he exited the mall.
Detectives have also charged Frank Theodore Williams, 31, of the 2900 block of Lakebrook Circle, 21227 and Jermell Monte Brandon, 35, of the 700 block of Belgian Avenue, 21218, and William Ward III, 44, of the 600 block of Cator Avenue, 21218 for their roles in Rodney Pridget’s death.
Use of Mall Cameras
Surveillance video retrieved from Towson Town Center security cameras showed that Jermell Brandon encountered Rodney Pridget at a store inside the mall. Detectives learned that he called Frank Williams after seeing the victim, and that Frank Williams drove Tyrone Brown and William Ward to the mall after receiving the phone call. Surveillance video shows the suspects communicating by cellular phone while following the victim through the mall. The videos show the suspects walking through the mall and the parking garages after the murder.
While the victim was clearly targeted, the reason for the murder has not yet been determined.
All four suspects have been charged with First Degree Murder and Use of a Handgun During a Felony Crime. They are currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
