A memorial visitation for Baltimore County firefighter Robert Fogle III will be held at the Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company (near Westminster) on Wednesday, June 4, 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services also will be held at the Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company on Thursday, June 5 at 10 a.m.

While Fogle will receive full Fire Service honors, the Fogle family has not chosen a full, ceremonial funeral; there will be no interment and no procession.

The Pleasant Valley Fire Community Company is located at 2030 South Pleasant Valley Road, 21158.

Fogle, 58, held the rank of Fire Apparatus Driver Operator (FADO). He went into cardiac arrest during a training exercise Friday afternoon at the Fire-Rescue Academy in Sparrows Point, and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

FADO Fogle is a 27-year veteran of the Baltimore County Fire Department, stationed at Pikesville Station #2.

A Westminster resident, he volunteered for more than 30 years at the Pleasant Valley Community Fire Co. He was a past member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Co.

Fogle also was a fire/rescue instructor with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann, and two adult children, Garrett W. Fogle and Casey J. Fogle, both of Westminster.

Investigation

BCoFD standard operating procedures call for an internal investigation for all line-of-duty deaths. An internal investigation team is being assembled.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health also investigates most fire service deaths. A preliminary conference with representatives from Maryland Occupational Safety and Health has taken place, and BCoFD will cooperate fully as the process continues.
