    Update - Police Identify Victim in Lochearn Homicide

    Baltimore County Police have identified the victim in the Saturday, September 20, homicide in Lochearn. His name is Jonathan Michael Watkins, 20, last known address in the 100-block of Village of Pine Court, 21244.
    Police ask anyone that might have information about this crime to call (410) 307-2020.

    The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Lochearn.

    On September 20, at 2:06 a.m., Baltimore County police responded to the area of Lantern Hill Drive and Sedgemoor Road, 21207 for a check on subject call. Police found an unidentified young male subject suffering from severe trauma to the body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    Baltimore County police homicide detectives are investigating the case. Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to call (410) 307-2020. Witnesses can also contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-Lockup, where they may qualify for a reward up to $2,000.00, if there information leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson has announced a number of new command assignments that take effect tomorrow, April 1.

  • Woodland M. Wilson III will be promoted from the rank of Captain to the rank of Major. Captain Wilson oversees BCoPD’s Operations Support Section, including K-9 and the Tactical Unit. As a Major, he will oversee Support Operations Division, including the Tactical Unit and K-9 as well as Aviation, the Hostage Negotiation Team, the Behavioral Assessment Unit, the Marine Team and Traffic.
  • Major Daniel Kaliszak will command BCoPD’s Technical Services Division. Major Kaliszak currently is assigned to Support Operations.
  • Captain Gordon Skinner, currently commander of Precinct 8/Parkville, will command the Vice/Narcotics Section.
  • Captain Jay Landsman Jr., currently assigned to the Vice/Narcotics Section, will command Precinct 6/Towson.
  • Captain Lisa Hannon, currently assigned to the Operations Bureau, will command Precinct 8/Parkville.
  • Captain Richard Howard, currently commander of Precinct 6/Towson, will be assigned to the Operations Bureau.

The changes follow the retirement last month of Major Karen Johnson.

On Wednesday night, members of the Baltimore County Police Vice Unit conducted a prostitution enforcement detail involving men coming to a location in Baltimore County, soliciting prostitution and offering money to undercover detectives.

Detectives took four men into custody during this detail. Those men have been identified as:

  • Kevin Lamont Simmons, 40. Simmons is employed as a Sergeant with the Baltimore City Police Department.
  • Edward Yuditsky, 42, of the unit block of Sugarvale Way, 21093.
  • Trevor William Joseph Barnes, 44, of the 2400 block of Braddock Road, 21771.
  • Mark Kane, 48, of the 6100 block of Patrick Drive, 21784.

The four men taken into custody were charged with two counts of prostitution – general. All except Kane, who also faces drug charges, were released on their own recognizance. Kane is held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $5,000 bail.

The Baltimore City Police Department was notified of the incident.
