The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is investigating a Thursday night accident between a BMW and a piece of volunteer fire apparatus that injured one person.
The initial investigation into this incident has indicated that Squad 303 from the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company and a BMW X5 had been traveling north-bound on York Road approaching Belfast Road in Timonium. Squad 303 was traveling in a north-bound lane, and attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot of Smyth Jewelers. The BMW X5 was traveling in the center turn only lane attempting to pass the fire truck. The BMW struck the squad unit as it attempted to make the turn.
The driver of the BMW was taken to Greater Baltimore Medical Center for treatment. Investigators determined that he was at fault for the accident and issued him several citations.
No personnel on the fire apparatus were injured.
Both vehicles received disabling damage in the collision and were towed from the scene.
