    Baltimore County health officials have put out this warning about a rabid cat in the Reisterstown area:

    The Baltimore County Department of Health is urging residents near Delight Road in Reisterstown (21136) to be aware of possible exposure to a cat which tested positive for rabies on Monday, September 29. The cat was a male, grey striped tabby that may have had a limp.

    In light of this incident, area residents are urged to contact the Health Department if they have had direct exposure to this cat AND to take actions to protect themselves, their families and pets from rabies exposure. Contact health officials at 410-887-6092.

On July 15, detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit received information about a subject who wanted to purchase a child for a sexual act.

The investigation into this incident has indicated that the suspect wanted to purchase a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy for sex. A detective assumed an undercover identity, posed as a pimp, and began online communication with the suspect. During an online conversation with the suspect, the detective also posed as a 15-year-old boy. The suspect indicated in that conversation that he wanted to engage in a sexual act with the boy.

The undercover detective told the suspect that he could meet the boys in a room at a Baltimore County hotel. When the suspect arrived at the room, he knocked on the door and it was answered by an undercover investigator. The suspect was then taken into custody.

The suspect advised the detectives that he is employed by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore. Beaver worked as an aquatics instructor for the summer camp and has held various positions at both JCC locations -- Parks Heights and Owings Mills.

Detectives also discovered that he had been a soccer coach and is a retired Carroll County school teacher.

Held on Bail

The suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Charles David Beaver of the 3000 block of Main Street in Manchester. He has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor and related charges, and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $100,000 bail.

This investigation was conducted by Baltimore County detectives and other members of the Maryland Child  Exploitation Task Force. The Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force is comprised of Baltimore County Police , FBI and other local jurisdictions.

At 2:44 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police and Fire personnel responded to the unit block of Shipley Avenue 21229 for a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

The initial investigation into this incident has indicated that the victim was walking in the unit block of Shipley Avenue when he was approached and shot by the suspect.

This incident is being investigated by the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit. Detectives will be working to determine if this was a targeted crime.
