At 7:30 a.m. this morning, the Baltimore County Fire Department responded to the Blakehurst Retirement Community at 1055 West Joppa Road 21204 for a fire alarm. When units arrived on the scene, they noticed heavy smoke in the building and requested additional resources.
The fire itself was contained to the kitchen of an individual unit and was kept from spreading by the facilities’ fire suppression system. It was placed under control at 7:50 a.m..
There were no mandatory evacuations but some residents did decide to leave the building until the incident was resolved. There were no reports of injuries to civilians or fire department personnel. No residents were displaced.
A total of 31 pieces of Baltimore County Fire Department equipment were dispatched to the scene.
