Photo of Glen Treslar, charged in the murder of his wife in their Monkton home.An 81-year-old man has been charged with first degree murder in the killing of his wife in their Monkton home yesterday.

Glen Henry Treslar, of the 16500 block of Garfield Avenue, is held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police responded at 3:07 p.m. yesterday to a "check on subject" call at the Garfield Avenue home. A friend of the Treslars called 911, concerned that something might be wrong.

At the scene, Treslar told officers that he had just shot his wife, Yvonne Treslar, 78. Police found Yvonne Treslar lying on the floor of a bedroom, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by BCoFD medical personnel.

Treslar told police that he and his wife had had an argument earlier in the day, but did not elaborate on the nature of the argument. He did not explain why he also shot and killed the family dog, which police found in the kitchen.
