UPDATE: Police have identified the male found near train tracks in the Rosedale area as 26-year-old George Thomas McAleer of the 1100 block of Quantril Way in Baltimore.

Original Release:

The Baltimore County Police Department is currently investigating the death of a male victim found near train tracks in the Rosdedale area.

On March 4, at approximately 5:48 p.m., Baltimore County Police were dispatched to the 200-block of Philadelphia Avenue, 21236 for an injured subject. The police investigation revealed that an unidentified adult male victim was standing in the area of the train tracks, when he was accidentally struck by a train that was passing by. It appears that the subject did not hear the train coming down the track at a high rate of speed. The police investigation also revealed that the victim was in possession of a stolen 4-wheel ATV that broke down on him next to the tracks just prior to the accident.

The victim, believed to be from the Dundalk area, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim is not being identified at this time pending the notification of the next of kin.
This accident highlights the danger of people trespassing upon railroad property. Citizens are being asked to stay away from all railway property in Baltimore County.

Train traffic through the area was interrupted and is now operating at restricted speeds through the area.

No additional information is available at this time.
