At 9:47 a.m., officers responded to a home in the 1100 block of Gypsy Lane, 21093, for a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that a family member was destroying things and threatening her. The woman also reported hearing a gunshot.

When officers arrived, the caller and another adult inside the home were able to leave safely. The suspect then fired several shots from inside the home out the back of the house.

Police established a perimeter and requested BCoPD's Tactical Unit and the Hostage Negotiation Unit. Negotiators worked throughout the afternoon to safely resolve this situation. Due to the weather conditions and extended operation time, mutual aid was requested from Harford County and Anne Arundel County; specifically, BCoPD requested additional armored police vehicles from these neighboring counties.

The suspect, a 35-year-old male, was taken into custody without incident and will be taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Charges are pending. No identifying information about the suspect can be released until he is formally charged.
