At 10:03 p.m. Thursday night, Baltimore County Police and Fire personnel responded to York and Thornton Mill roads in Precinct 7/Cockeysville for a report of a serious automobile accident. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that there were three vehicles involved and there were multiple patients with serious injuries.

The initial investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Team has indicated that a Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on York Road north of McCormick Road in front of a Dodge Dart. There was a Hyundai Tucson traveling southbound on York Road north of McCormick Road. The Hyundai Sonata crossed the center line, struck the Hyundai Tucson, and went back into the northbound side of York Road where it was struck by the Dodge Dart.

Eric James Stewart, 22, of the 600 block of Quaker Bottom Road, 21152, has been identified as the driver of the Hyundai Sonata. He has been cited for DUI and determined to be the at-fault driver in the crash.

Brandon Thomas Walsh, 23, of the 14600 block of Thornton Mill Road, 21152, has been identified as the driver of the Dodge Dart. He has been cited for DUI.

The operator of the Hyundai Tucson, Charles Edward Wagner, 85, and the right rear passenger of the Hyundai Tucson, Jeannine Shirley Wagner, 84, both of the 900 block of Beaverbank Circle, 21286, were declared deceased at the scene.

One in Critical Condition

The right front passenger, identified as Mary Antionette Warner, 79, of the 12300 block of Rosslare Ridge Road, 21093, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police Medivac Helicopter where she remains in critical condition.

Eric Stewart, the operator of the Hyundai Sonata, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Baltimore County Medics for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Brandon Walsh, the operator of the Dodge Dart, was not injured as a result of the accident.

Crash Factors

Crash Team investigators believe that speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash and are continuing the investigation. The review of the incident by the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office will determine if any more charges will be placed.

Please join the Baltimore County Police Department (BCoPD) for its first "tweet-along" in Towson this Tuesday, November 12, from 7 to 10 p.m.

A tweet-along is a virtual ride-along that allows citizens to follow a BCoPD officer on patrol through our Twitter account, @BACOPoliceFire. Tweet-alongs are increasingly popular with law enforcement agencies as a way to heighten community awareness of how police officers work and the kinds of calls they deal with, day in and day out.

For Tuesday's tweet-along, Corporal Cathleen Batton will ride with Officer Daniel Jonas of Precinct 6/Towson as he patrols the area around Towson University and downtown Towson. Corporal Batton will constantly update BCoPD's Twitter account with what she and Officer Jonas see and do.

Visit our Twitter account, www.twitter.com/BACOPoliceFire, #tweetalong to follow Corporal Batton and Officer Jonas Tuesday night. Updates from the Tweet-along also will appear on our Facebook page.
