Timothy Howard Virts has been returned to Maryland and has been officially charged with the March 6 murder of Bobbi Jo Cortez in Dundalk. He is being interviewed by homicide detectives and then will be sent to the Baltimore County Detention Center where he is to be held without bail.

On the morning of March 6, Baltimore County Police and Fire personnel responded to a home in the 3100 block of Ardee Way 21222 for a cardiac arrest. First responders found Bobbie Jo Cortez, deceased, in her bedroom. Police were called after one of the occupants of the house had found Mrs. Cortez, deceased. The investigation has not yet determined when Mrs. Cortez was last seen alive, though detectives have confirmed that she was alive on March 5.

At about the same time, the occupants of the house discovered that Caitlyn and Timothy Virts were missing, along with a Dodge Durango. An Amber Alert was then issued for Caitlyn Marie Virts.

On March 7, Caitlyn and Timothy Virts were located in a motel in Florence, South Carolina. Timothy Virts was taken into custody by local police and Caitlyn was taken by local social services officials. Caitlyn appeared to be unharmed and was returned to Maryland on March 8.
