Baltimore County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred June 7 in Essex.
On June 7 at 11:47 p.m., Baltimore County Police and Fire Personnel responded Back River Neck Road and Poles Road for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arriving at the scene, officer discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a 2000 Volkswagen Passat.
The initial investigation into this incident has indicated that a pedestrian was crossing Back River Neck Road from east to west. The Volkswagen Passat was traveling south-bound on Back River Neck Road and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital where he was later declared deceased. He has been identified as 35-year-old Bert Sylvester Bush who had a last known address in the 300 block of Bentalou Street 21223.
This incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department Crash Team. Investigators believe that pedestrian error may be a factor in the crash.
When the Crash Team is done its investigation, the report will be presented to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. The State’s Attorney’s Office will review the report and decide if any charges will be brought.
