A man has been arrested after breaking windows at a Towson church.

At 11:40 a.m. on July 29, Baltimore County Police responded to Trinity Episcopal Church in the 100 block of Allegheny Avenue 21204 for a destruction of property report.

The investigation into the incident has indicated that the suspect approached a door at the church and rang a bell. When he was denied entry into the building, he removed a metal pipe from his backpack and broke several windows. Two of the windows that were broken were stained glass.

Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. After arriving at Precinct 6 for processing, the suspect grabbed a chair, advanced on an officer, and was taken to the ground by another officer. The suspect was injured during the altercation and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, the suspect struck an officer in the hand.

The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Gary M. Slavinsky Jr of no fixed address. He has been charged with destruction of property, assault on police, and related charges. Slavinsky is being

held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $75,000 bail.
