National Night out was a huge success with many communities participating in Woodlawn/Randallstown areas.

On August 5, community leaders, elected officials, neighborhood groups and citizens in the Woodlawn/Randallstown areas came together to celebrate the 30th annual National Night Out.

National Night Out is an opportunity for people to come together and show that they care about the safety of their neighborhoods and are committed to building thriving communities. Activities include cookouts, rallies, picnics, block parties, seminars with local law enforcement, and more. These activities foster community spirit and let criminals know they are not welcome in our neighborhoods.

At 11:40 a.m., the suspect gave a note to the cashier. The note said "Don't scream, don't call the police and put the money in the bag." The victim complied and put the cash in the bag. The suspect told the cashier not to call the police and fled the Family Dollar Store westbound on North Rolling Road.

At 7:20 a.m., the victim was walking on Brenbrook Drive when an unknown suspect physically removed her purse which contained her medication, identification, cosmetic bag and wallet. The suspect fled on a dark colored bicycle.

Sometime between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., unknown suspects entered the home through a window. Once inside, the suspects stole a shotgun and a computer.

At 2:45 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the store by breaking the glass door. Once inside, the suspect stole four bottles of liquor from behind the bar and food from the kitchen. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The Precinct 2/Woodlawn officer of the month for July 2014 is Officer Monetta Carter. Officer Carter had 215 pieces of traffic enforcement in July that included 180 warnings. She made several arrests which included the August 1 arrest of a first degree burglary suspect. On July 11, Officer Carter took a report of a first degree burglary where various electronic items were taken from a home. She thoroughly investigated the case and was able to identify the suspect and take him into custody.

At 4:36 p.m., the victim's former roommate was seen leaving the apartment balcony just before a fire started. The suspect placed a bed comforter on the stove and turned on the stove. The Arson Unit is investigating.
