Move over SEC country, Baltimore County, new football powerhouse is coming through. Not only is Baltimore County home to the Super Bowl Champion Ravens, but two NCAA college programs as well.
The Towson University Tigers are sitting pretty at 5-0 as they head into the thick of their CAA matchups. After a playoff snub by last year’s selection committee the tigers have routed four of their opponents, including a 33-18 win over the University of Connecticut (a BCS program). The Tigers came from behind in the second half on Saturday to remain undefeated, and among the contenders for the CAA crown.
The Stevenson University Mustangs took their first loss of the season this past Saturday. This feat is especially impressive considering the program is only in its third year, playing their first competitive game in September of 2011. Stevenson is also home to the newly built, 3,500-seat Mustang Stadium.
If Saturday football is what you’re craving, it’s not necessary to drive down to College Park or Annapolis, quality games are happening every week in your own backyard. With plenty of exciting matchups still on the slate, make sure to support these two great local teams!
