Youth Action Corps (YAC) is a program supported by the Volunteer Center of Baltimore County (Baltimore County Volunteers) in conjunction with the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism for youth ages 13 - 18. The purpose of YAC is to provide youth with flexible, one-time opportunities or year round programs. We encourage you to volunteer with a group of friends, church youth group, school or sports team. YAC hopes to enable youth to make a difference in the Maryland communities. Everyone can help make their community a better place to live. - The first step is to view the calendar of events.
- Select a project that interests you and fits into your schedule. You are not asked to make a commitment beyond the events you select and there is no minimum requirement for involvement. This program is based entirely upon what you want and are able to do.
- Sign up to participate in the project by contacting the person listed on the agency where you wish to do the service.
- Show up at the site and let the person in charge know you or your group has arrived. Upon completing the project, have the person in charge sign any service forms you need signed for your school to record hours of service. (REMEMBER, you must have your project pre-approved by your service learning coordinator for Baltimore County Public Schools.) Service forms come from your school.
- The projects and programs listed are intended for informational purposes and are not to be considered an endorsement by Baltimore County Government of the agencies or services listed herein. Please contact the agency where you wish to do the service and find out the information necessary for you and your child's safety and information.
- All organizations listed with YAC have been pre-approved by Baltimore County Public School's Service Learning Program.
For Non Profit Agencies This program provides opportunities for youth to serve your agency. We set up a variety of monthly projects and recruit individuals from ages 13 - adult. We would love to be able to plan a project with your organization. Decide whether your project is ongoing in nature or to be done at a specific time, day and date. List the number of volunteers you would need and the age range. We also need to know who the adult in charge of supervising the project for your agency would be for that project and who the group or team reports to upon their arrival. We are very excited about having the opportunity to work with you. Register your Project
