Application to volunteer for The Choices Campaign (PDF)
I would like to take this opportunity to invite your participation in a new campaign which we have initiated. The Choices Campaign gives you the freedom to select how you will help. It's simple!
To participate in the Choices Campaign all you need to do is review the list of unmet needs and sign up to help. The need is great and the ways you can help are many. You determine the level of support.
Here are just a few examples of the ways you, your family, workplace, place of worship or organization can help:
- Buy baby diapers for a single mother the next time you purchase them for your child.
- Sponsor a book drive for children's literature.
- Volunteer as a Friendly Visitor visiting an older adult or person with a disability on a regular basis.
- Become a mentor to a foster child or "at risk" youth.
- Hold a housewares or seasonal clothing drive, collecting well-maintained items that can be recycled.
- Purchase grocery or discount store gift certificates for needy families.
- Sponsor a child going to camp, the zoo, or some other cultural event.
- Adopt-A-Family Year Round.
- Send us a monetary contribution to address emergency needs.
- Donate your expertise to make our services to clients better.
- Invite us to speak at your next meeting or tell a friend about our program.
In the Volunteer Office of the Baltimore County Department of Social Services every gift is seen as significant and valuable. To learn about how you, your family or organization can help please contact the Volunteer Office at 410-853-3024 or email us at: dward3@dhr.state.md.us.
