This service, which is provided by professionally trained and licensed social workers, provides mental health intervention in the schools in order to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of children and their families. By maintaining cooperation between schools and the local public child welfare service, an integrated and early intervention approach to these issues can help to resolve problems that interfere with school success, family stability and family self-sufficiency.
Any student (and his/her family), who attends one of the participating schools is eligible to receive service as long as he/she is registered in the school Weliness Center. The wellness centers provide free comprehensive health coverage, including mental health services, to all students in the school, regardless of their insurance coverage. All of the participating schools either have a wellness center or have access to one. Income is not a factor in determining eligibility. Participating schools are listed on the back of this brochure.
The services provided reflect the needs and characteristics of each specific school community, so services may vary from school to school.
