This service, which is provided by professionally trained and licensed social workers, seeks to help pregnant and parenting adolescents enhance their parenting skills, improve communication with family members, learn about pregnancy prevention, and secure stability in their living arrangements.
A voluntary service for pregnant and parenting adolescents under 20 who are residents of Baltimore County are eligible for these services.
We offer a combination of group and individual services which help teens learn the life skills they need to become self sufficient, and responsible parents. Some of the specific issues we might talk about are:
- Communication problems between teens and their parents
- Problems with boyfriends and girlfriends
- Making good choices about sex
- Birth control and pregnancy options
- Obtaining medical care for mother and child
- Information about financial assistance, work programs, and day care
- Managing money and working
- Coping with stress
- Parenting techniques
- Problem solving
- Housing issues
