Eligibility is based on the amount of resources the applicant has in each month. - Financial eligibility is not based on any amount that the applicant owes the nursing home.
- Financial eligibility is established when the resources are $2,500 or less on the first day of the month. The resources must remain at $2,500 or less in order to maintain financial eligibility.
- Financial eligibility is established only for those months when the resources were $2,500 or less on the first day of each month.
- The countable resources cannot be worth more than $2,500. If you exceed this limit by even a $1 at any time during the month, you will be ineligibility for Medicaid for the entire month.
- If financial eligibility could not be established on the first day of the month because the resources were more than $2,500 and the resources were reduced to $2,500 or less in the same month, eligibility will be established on the first day of the following month.
