Emergency Homeless Shelters
Approximately 891 individuals are homeless in Baltimore County at a point in time. Families comprise one quarter of the homeless households. The remaining 75 percent homeless households in Baltimore County are individuals. There are 517 emergency and transitional shelter beds for individuals and families in the County.
Shelter Referrals
You must have a referral to stay in any of the shelters listed below. Referrals to shelters depend on the availability of space. For more information and referrals to Baltimore County Shelters, call our screening line at 410-853-3000. It is best to call at 8:30 a.m. when space is most available.
East Side Shelter
Provides health and mental health services for families, couples and single women.
Day programs include:
- GED
- job readiness and workshops
- recreational activities
Hannah More
Temporary shelter for single women and families with children, provides health and mental health services.
Westside Men's Shelter
For men, provides health and mental health services.
Night of Peace
Temporary overnight shelter for homeless families.
Domestic Violence Shelter

Provides temporary 24 hours/day, 7 days a week safe shelter for 90 days for up to 35 individuals and family members who must leave their homes in order to prevent family violence from occurring.

Services include case management, hot meals, shower and laundry. - Nehemiah House is a 52 bed facility for homeless men that provides shelter, meals, and connections to health services.
