One of the most destructive and debilitating things that can occur in a community is park vandalism. Vandalism damages and destroys property, landscaping, fields, buildings and equipment. Including the cost of removing graffiti, the cost of vandalism was over $251,000 last fiscal year.
Through the Park Pride program, park visitors and neighbors are encouraged to report incidents of vandalism as well as any leads they may have to help catch the perpetrators. If you have information regarding vandalism at your local park or open space please contact our maintenance division at 410-887-3808 or complete our online tips form to help us to catch a vandal.
Be it graffiti, arson or other destruction of property, the Department of Recreation and Parks is committed to getting its facilities "back in the line-up" as soon as possible. If you spot graffiti in any County park, call 410-887-7844 and we can usually remove it within 24 hours. To this end, the Department's G.E.T. (Graffiti Eradication Team) uses the latest technology in its continuing fight against graffiti, the Farrow System. This system uses an environmentally friendly, non-hazardous material to particle-blast graffiti off virtually any surface. This system eliminates the need for chemicals and takes just one-fourth the time.
