Q. My trash/recycling was not collected. Why?
A. Before calling to notify customer service that your trash was not collected, please check the following:
Was your trash placed out on trash day? To confirm which day materials are to be set out, please check your collection schedule.
Check to see if the other houses on your street have had their trash picked up. If your neighbors' trash is still out, the collector may be running later than normal. If the trash has not been picked up by 1 p.m. call the Bureau's office at 410-887-2000.
If the trash has been picked up from other houses on your street, was your trash set out the night before your collection day? Collectors normally pick-up trash between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. On any given day collectors may need to adjust their schedule and could arrive earlier or later than normal.

Q. What do I need to know about County regulations for residential trash containers?
A. Please follow all these Baltimore County regulations for residential trash containers:
- Trash containers are limited to a filled weight of 50 pounds.
- Trash containers must not have a capacity greater than 32 gallons.
- Lids on trash containers should fit snugly, but must not be secured or fastened with rope, wire, chains, springs, hinges, or by any other means.
Recyclable bottles & cans must be placed out for collection in open-top bins (such as laundry baskets and storage bins) OR in see-through plastic bags (blue, clear, tan, white, etc.).
No trash containers and no red/pink or yellow bags.
Recyclable mixed paper must be placed out for collection in paper bags, cardboard boxes, or tied with non-plastic string. The bags, boxes, or bundles may be placed out in open-top bins.
No paper in plastic bags (even if it's raining!) and no trash containers.
Failure to comply with these regulations could result in missed trash collection and/or collection worker injury. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Q. Whom should I call if I need bulk items picked up?
A. Baltimore County does not provide bulk item collection service. Private bulk item collectors can be found in the Greater Baltimore Yellow Pages under the Rubbish & Garbage Removal section. Since there are several different versions of phone directories you may also want to search bulk hauling, garbage collection, trash, etc.
