Composting
Items you may not have even thought of can be composted in your bin. Due to problems with rodents and other animals, the Baltimore County Code prohibits composting of food scraps in compost piles or bins.
Materials to Include
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Flowers
- Twigs
- Small branches
- Straw/hay
- Bark
- Peat moss
- Sawdust
- Pine needles
Do Not Include
- Diseased/insect ridden plants
- Inorganic materials (synthetic chemicals, lime, BBQ char metal)
- Pressure treated lumber
- Meat
- Bones
- Fish
- Dairy products
- Pet waste
