Our responsibilities are to provide services to various County agencies which include mapping, property work, stakeout, utility recovery, right-of-way and easement delineation. We provide the public with County data for private projects by maintaining a County-wide Control System, with information available upon request.
Land Survey Control Points
Survey Control map service (IMS) application that allows the user to display and query map data. The application contains base maps and thematic maps. Survey Control provides access to the County's geographic information system (GIS) databases. GIS is a tool that displays and analyzes map themes to obtain more information about a feature.
Survey Control uses the same data contained in the County's GIS databases and was designed to provide citizens access to similar information used by County agencies. survey Control provides location and general information about controls in the County.

Baltimore County government provides online access to the public information maintained in it's records. The data provided through this web site is the same information available from the Department of Public Works, Land Survey Division Office.

Survey Control connection and system requirements:
- Broadband connection is recommended by will work for 56k or higher connections

User Terms and Conditions Summary:
Baltimore County adopted the Maryland Coordinate System, North America Datum of 1983 (1991) and the North America Datum of 1988 as it's standard horizontal and vertical datum starting July 1, 1999. Prior to this date Baltimore County Metropolitan District grid system (horizontal) and Baltimore County Datum (vertical) were used for thousand of plats and surveys throughout Baltimore County.
Both systems of survey controls are being made available, from this site, to assist users with all surveys performed in Baltimore County. Users of this data must check the County code, policy and with appropriate agencies to verify the correct datum(s) to be used on current and future projects requiring Baltimore County approvals.
