Function

Our responsibilities are to ensure the structural integrity and safety of 450 public bridges and some retaining walls throughout the County. To fulfill our responsibility, each of our bridges is inspected every two years to assess its structural condition. Based on these biannual inspections, maintenance and construction programs are developed to ensure that the public is protected. We issue and review temporary Bridge Overload Permits.

We also provide support to other agencies as needed with retaining walls, buildings, and bridges within the park system.
