Precinct 08 Community Outreach Team (COT)

Precinct Community Outreach Team members are assigned at the discretion of the precinct commanders and perform the following duties:

  • Serve as proactive resources in identifying, stabilizing and resolving community fear and disorder using the problem-solving process.
  • Develop and execute strategies that promote crime prevention.
  • Promote and maintain police/community cooperation and communication.
  • Support the community problem solving efforts of Patrol Units, Investigative Service Teams (IST) and Community Drug and Violence Interdiction Teams (CDVIT).
  • Work with local youth through such programs as the Police Athletic League and Explorers.
  • Assist in the investigations of bias incidents.
  • Guide and assist local Citizens on Patrol groups.
