Baltimore County, Md. (September 3, 2009) - The Baltimore County Police Department invites you and your family to experience an exciting combination road and trail run on Saturday, October 31. The race starts at 9 a.m., with pre-race registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Family Fun area opens at 9:05 a.m., and breakfast begins at 9:45 a.m.
This very unusual foot race will wind through developed areas of the new Baltimore Crossroads @95 business community in White Marsh, Maryland, and over a unique portion of the undeveloped terrain. A "family-oriented" 1-mile walk/run or roll will also be held. The event is open to people of all ages and skill levels. Entry fees are $25 per person through September 30, and $35 after September 30 through race day. Youth under age 18 are $10 through September 30, and $15 after September 30 through race day. Active military and veterans will be offered a special discounted fee of $10. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Baltimore County Police Athletic League (PAL) to support their outreach programs for children and families in need. Last year’s inaugural event hosted 528 participants, 45 exhibitors representing military, law enforcement, fire and rescue, as well as local businesses and non-profit organizations. Net proceeds of $20,000 were donated to enhance the Baltimore County Police Athletic League programs, as well as the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce. The Baltimore County Police Athletic League is a non-profit organization that provides a safe, constructive alternative to youth boredom, violence and victimization. Baltimore County police officers and recreation coordinators along with community volunteers staff all nine centers and help to enhance the positive moral development of youth through various programs and activities. Funds raised through the generosity and support of sponsors and participants of the Baltimore Crossroads @95 CrossCountry Challenge will assist PAL in achieving its goal to expand and improve the athletic, social and educational programs and activities in its centers.
