Public Facilities Planning

The Office of Planning is involved in two areas of public facility planning:

The Capital Improvement Program is the County plan specifying when major land acquisition and construction projects for schools, parks, roads, sewers and other public facilities will occur, and how they will be financed.

The office is also responsible for Adequate Public School Facilities. Legislation requires the office to study and report on the enrollment capacity of County schools.  Areas where schools are overcapacity are subject to a building moratorium unless mitigated by spare capacity in adjacent schools or by plans for school expansion.
