The Department is responsible for performing various planning research functions essential to formulating and implementing the master plan, community plans, regional transportation plan, educational facilities master plan, consolidated plan for housing and community development, land preservation-parks-recreation plan, water and sewer master plan, and other public policies and programs concerning the county’s growth management and for allocating governmental funds and resources to communities for enhancing quality of life of county residents. The Office is also required by the County Code to prepare school impact analyses of proposed residential development projects and report the annual enrollment capacity of the County’s public schools.

Residential Development Capacity Study

This study calculated the potential number of residential units that could be constructed under the existing zoning regulations in the urban area of the county.
