Plumbing and Gasfitting Board

The Plumbing and Gasfitting Board is established by Section 3-3-1501 et seq. of the Baltimore County Code. The Board advises and assists the Director of the Department of Permits, Approvals and  Inspections (PAI) regarding the administration of Article 21, Title 15 of the Baltimore County Code governing Plumbers, Gasfitters, Disposal System Contractors, Water Pump Contractors, and Drain and Sewer Cleaners, including licensing.

The County Executive appoints the chairman of the Plumbing and Gasfitting Board.

The Chief Plumbing Inspector serves as the secretary of the Board.

The Buildings Engineer for the Department of Permits, Approvals and Inspections, Donald E. Brand, P.E., is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of the County building (PDF), fire, and related codes. He oversees the Plumbing Boards, as well as the Plumbing Code Committee.

The Plumbing and Gasfitting Code of Baltimore County (PDF) was adopted in Bill 17-13. The bill adopts the 2012 National Standard Plumbing Code.

Meetings

The board meets the second and fourth Friday of every month.

Board Members

There are six members on the board appointed by the County Executive. Representatives are to be from specific related fields. Members serve one year terms. There are no term limits.
