Pro Bono Program

The Office of Law's "Public Lawyers Pro Bono Program"

The Office of Law established its award winning (PDF) "Public Lawyers Pro Bono Program" to join in the state bar's efforts to provide legal services to people of limited means.  Under the pro bono program, lawyers from the Office of Law provide legal services, free of charge, to qualifying individuals and organizations.  Each lawyer provides these services on his or her own time, not county time. Lawyers from the Office have helped clients in the areas of divorce, custody, child support, and bankruptcy, and in the drafting of simple wills and general powers of attorney.

To secure the services of a lawyer from the Office of Law, the client MUST BE REFERRED to the Office by an outside agency.  Currently, the Office accepts cases referred by:

The Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service; phone: 410-547-6537

and

The Legal Aid Bureau, Inc., Baltimore County Office; phone: 410-296-6705
