Workforce Development Board

The Workforce Development Board (WDB) is an industry-led entity that provides policy guidance and oversight for Baltimore County’s workforce development system. In addition to decision makers from companies in the County’s key industry sectors, the WDB includes representatives from educational and service agencies, organized labor and community-based organizations. The WDB ensures that plans and priorities for workforce programs reflect the current and future talent needs of local area employers. It also oversees efforts to create strategic partnerships involving private businesses, public agencies and not-for-profit organizations to advance the workforce readiness of County residents. The WDB serves as the Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB) for Baltimore County per the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Board Meeting Schedule

The 2016 schedule for Board meetings is listed below. All Board meetings are open to the public.

  • March 3—Tradepoint Atlantic (former site of Bethlehem Steel) located at 1600 Sparrows Point Boulevard Baltimore, Maryland 21219
    • Inclement weather date is March 10

    • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Strategic Direction Retreat

    • Parking - Parking is limited, so be sure to arrive early and park only in the spaces on the lot in the front of the building.

    • 7:30 to 8 a.m. Continental Breakfast and Networking
    • 8 to 9:30 a.m. Board Meeting
  • December 15—American Job Center in Hunt Valley, 11101 McCormick Road, Room 120A, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21031
    • 7:30 to 8 a.m. Continental Breakfast and Networking
    • 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Board Meeting

Inclement Weather Policy: If Baltimore County Public Schools are closed or delayed, the meeting will be canceled.

Members of the WDB are appointed by the County Executive and represent the private sector, educational institutions, labor, and community and government organizations.
