Workforce Development Services Overview
The Department of Economic and Workforce Development (DEWD) plays a unique role in the workforce development arena by acting as a broker for initiatives designed to develop a skilled workforce.
The Agency's customer base includes the Baltimore County business community, job seekers and students. Through a combination of federal, state and county financing the DEWD provides streamlined, comprehensive, and individualized services developed in response to local market and industry needs.
Services for Developing a Skilled Workforce
We are part of Maryland Jobs Now (MJN). MJN is a network of high-performing, results-oriented workforce organizations that invest in employment and training strategies, services and initiatives which afford Marylanders good paying jobs in a thriving economy. Maryland job seekers should know where to go to find jobs, and companies should know where to go to connect to workforce talent.
Business Services assist new and expanding businesses, provide assistance to recruit and retain a skilled workforce, workplace training and education is available as is assistance with workforce downsizing.
Job Seeker Services
Job Seeker Services provides career consultation and development resources and services, career placement assistance and career training resources may be available to those who qualify.
Youth Services oversees County programs for in-school and out-of-school youth ages 14 to 24. Youth Services and participating partners provide opportunities that improve job and career options for Baltimore County's youth by implementing an integrated, job-driven workforce system that successfully supports youth with obtaining career and education goals.

Five Year Workforce Investment Act Plan
Workforce Development makes its Five Year Workforce Investment Act (WIA) plan available to the public. The most recent Five Year Plan is for program years 2012 to 2016 (PDF).
The Baltimore County Workforce Development Centers provide equal opportunity and access to all of its services, resources and programs. Auxiliary aids and services are available to individuals with a disability and or those needing language interpreter services with advanced request.
